Battle of Secessionville
Nov. 10-12, 2006

FRIDAY
Camp Setup Time

Mike Looper, Mike Barnes, Joel Pominville, & Chuck Yeager are ready for the evening chill.
Once the troops began to arrive, the company street was formed.

Lt. Barnes at the head of the street,  Mrs. Barnes tent & the "ladies parlor" fly beside it, and the dog tents on one side of the street & A-frames on the other.

Chase Heatherly prepares his dog tent.

Joel Pominville examines Leo Lazano's pistol.

Corporal Hewell supervises the building of the campfire.

Leo Lazano assists Matt Aul with the trunk.

Tyler Hewell & Sherman Adams at the campfire.

Austin Looper & Cody Aul becoming friends.

SATURDAY

The Ladies Parlor Area

Julia Barnes prepares to venture out for the day.
Her tent features a cot with Wedding Ring quilt and Victorian mirror, and table outside tent has book by William Gilmore Simms, famous SC author of the 1850s & 1860s!
This year the ladies will have an area for our
socializing.

We are going to call it "The Ladies Parlor."

A fly will be in place, along with some
comfortable chairs.  We don't mind the
men sitting there as long as they take good
care of "our area"!

Kelly Clardy makes sure her appearance is perfect!
Kelly is an expert at Victorian hair styling and can give suggestions to new reenactor ladies.

Mike & Julia on the main avenue at Boone Hall.
(His uniform is putting her proposed facelift on
the back burner - again!!!)

The Ladies Home Guard Drill Demonstration
Front row, on right - reenactor from the North.  She said when asked why she portrays Confederate, she answers "It was history!"

Well, even in 1860, we have to keep up!

Palmetto Battalion Drill and Practice!
Left turn.....
the 28th PA (Butler Guards) take the field!

The heat of the day called for common sense - soldiers shed
the coats, but officers remain in formal attire.

It is not easy, but it is worth it in the long run
(right, Lt. Barnes???)

Getting ready to turn left (of course, there is a military
term for it....but Julia is doing the webpage and has not a clue!)

It takes time and work to get this good.

Our newest recruits, Clark & Mariah Smith of Chapin, SC!

After Action - the AWOL Trio!

And it is finally all over, time to pack up and go home!

At last, the battles are over!
The tents are back in the boxes.
It is time to go home!

Hot water, flush toilets, regular beds,
central heat and air.....

Mike's F250, fully loaded, pulls out of the site!

Photos in this row demonstrate why we have to avoid the 6-wing caps.

Chase Heatherly was hit with the parts and it caused an
injury to his hand.

This is why the caps are banned by the Palmetto Battalion.

And more misc. photos after I made the first edition of the Secessionville page!
